Temporary Deactivation of a PBS Approval (also known as 'Parking' a PBS Approval)
Did you know that you cannot simply temporarily close your PBS Approved pharmacy?An approved pharmacist who needs to close their pharmacy temporarily must first request deactivation, in writing to the Department of Health, before ceasing supply of pharmaceutical benefits. Closure of a pharmacy without first seeking deactivation may result in the cancellation of the pharmacist's approval to supply pharmaceutical benefits at those premises.
Requesting a temporary deactivation is a complex process and it is not a 'given' that the Department of Health will grant the deactivation.
